Mixed Media
2021
This large scale mixed media art installation was a commissioned piece for a private client for whom I brought in my technique and art language to make my their vision and needs to life.
The work brings in texture, dimension and movement and has become an iconic reference image for my client and their team.
This piece is composed through two primary technical approaches: tension and texture. The first element involves gray strings that are tied to metal standoffs at carefully planned angles. Each string is positioned with precision to create visual balance and varying tonal values of gray. The process required careful adjustment, one string at a time, to maintain even spacing and consistent tension throughout the composition.
The red component contrasts with the geometry of the strings. It is more organic and built through a layered technique using wood, glue, acrylic paint, and red pigment. The base was cut in the shape of an explosion. The first layer was applied with controlled hand movements, while the second involved throwing the material to create a more spontaneous, fluid surface.
Before mounting this piece, I covered the entire room in plastic and applied texture directly to the wall using a stencil to create debris around the explosion. Once dry, the cutout was installed on top, giving the illusion that the explosion emerged from the wall.
Finally, tensioned strings were added to connect the explosion to the adjacent car sculpture. These connections were planned to maintain formal balance, structural integrity, and a cohesive visual rhythm.

I am constantly creating new artwork and getting involved in new projects, and I want to hear your vision.
