Moom Womb

As a woman artist deeply invested in healing and spirituality, I recently realizedI had been living predominantly through my masculine energy. Society has taught women to live this way, under the influence of the patriarchal collective. Through wise friends, books, retreats, and other resources, I began learning about the sacred feminine.

My journey to unlock the magic of my womb, a woman’s second heart, began in2022, and will continue throughout my life. I’ve learned to embrace my feminine superpowers, such as connecting to my infradian clock (28-day cycle) instead of the circadian clock (sun, male, 24-hour cycle), trusting my intuition, and choosing to go deeper rather than faster. At the same time, I still honor the magic of my divine masculine energy: my stamina and willpower, my logic, and the analytical left side of my brain.

These two sacred energies coexist within us, transcending gender. This awareness started to take shape long before I began physically creating this piece. Moon Womb represents what I manifested after a long journey of consciously tapping into my sacred feminine for the first time in my life. This piece is a healing wound: a scab that slowly transforms into new tissues of comprehension and understanding of the world, myself, and others.

Moon Womb is a circular form, approximately four feet in diameter, dominated by different shades of red that create a sort of 2-dimensional mandala. The composition is created through the repetition of my drawing of a uterus, composed of flowers, hearts, and vulvas. I printed this drawing in various sizes, cut them out, and pasted them on different materials. Some are on lace, representing sensuality, passion, and power, while others are on a mesh-like fabric, symbolizing tissues and connections. Some edges are burnt, indicative of transformation and purification. The drawings are organized in a circular motion, from the smallest in the middle to the larger pieces on the outside. The piece also incorporates the organic element of roses; the one in the center is preserved to never dry, while the surrounding ones are dried.

Moon Womb was created during a 9-month course called “The Artist Rebirth Cycle”, where we analyzed our creative processes and the underlying motivations. This exercise was challenging because I did not know where it would end up: I allowed each step to dictate the next, treating the piece as if it were a living entity. Moon Womb is the result of a deep journey into my sacred feminine, encompassing the analysis, meditation, emotions, changes, and challenges of this ongoing journey. It has been a liberating experience, a radical departure from the linear and predictable. I see this piece as a ritual object, an invitation for viewers to consider how they honor the sacred feminine within themselves, regardless of gender.

The process of creating this work felt like a priestess preparing an altar, conducting a ritual. Moon Womb serves as a living entity, continually questioning and inviting me to new explorations within my divine feminity. This piece is a womb—a sacred vessel of creation that holds the key to rebirth. It is a gateway to new beginnings, a portal through which I emerge, renewed and revitalized. This piece is an amulet meant to honor the magic and power of my womb, others’ wombs, the earth’s womb, and the universe’s womb. Though deeply personal, this work speaks to the collective.

I created Moon Womb following a long period of isolation, and it is a testament to the power of self-love and self-respect. It is a celebration of divine femininity: a reminder to embrace our true essence and reclaim our place in the world. This piece embodies the overlapping imagery of the feminine, the natural, and the divine. It is at once a womb, a moon, a placenta, a fractal, a mandala, a kaleidoscope, a stained glass, a snowflake, a pomegranate, a flower, a breast, an ancient calendar, a galaxy, a cervix, a labyrinth, a spider web, a tree of life, a star, a galaxy, the cosmos… the power and spirit of the sacred feminine in its full potential.

I am constantly creating new artwork and getting involved in new projects, and I want to hear your vision.
